Farellones is about one hour east of Santiago at the upper end of the Cajon de Mapocho. On the way up the canyon, there are 39 marked switchbacks. I literally had to almost stop, place the transmission in first gear to get around the turn. This is a picture of the ski resort of La Parva. You can see the condos but there was not much activity in the middle of summer.
This is a little closer picture of La Parva and you can see the ski lifts. You will also notice that there is no vegitation at all under the lifts. You will also notice the glacier above the resort in the Andes. This area of the resort is probably about 7000 feet.
