Streets of Santiago

This beautiful building is the Providencia Municipal. About four or five times a year the city puts up awnings all around the building and have various events. We have seen a book fare and antique show.

These are the roots of a large tree in front of the Municipal building.

This yellow building is the Uruguayan Embassy.

Grocery Store, Santiago

This is not your typical Latin American grocery stores. This Hyper Lider is every bit a nice as what you would see in the States. A very nice store and you can find anything you might need.

This is one of the aisles of the frozen food section in the nicest grocery store we have been in Santiago. This store is similar to a small Wal-Mart. You can find anything.

Another view of the Great Value products.

This is a small kiosk in the middle of the store that sells Jamon cerrano." We ate some of this in Spain with Travis. This looks the same. It is totally "yuk." Ask Travis he knows.

This is a local Chilean looking at Great Value Brand good from Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart has bought into the Lider chain stores here in Chile and more and more product is arriving almost weekly.
Coming into the store from the parking lot I saw this sign for alterations!! I thought that the name "retoucherie" was pretty good.
This is part of the parking lot under ground for the Hyper Lider.

Feria (fruit and veggie market) 8/14/2010

This is the street where the feria is located about 3 miles south of our apartment. On Saturdays the feria just takes over the street from about 10:00 AM til about 3:00 PM. The quality here is very good.

Maipo Canyon July 3, 2010

I know there are several pictures of the Maipo River. This is such a beautiful setting and its far away from the big city. This is the middle of winter. We want to return to the canyon latter in the spring to see everything green and see the river flow.

This photo and the following were also taken from the vehicle while driving up the canyon.
